Get Ready for Free Comic Book Day

Mark your calendars for May 2, 2026! Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is back on the first Saturday in May.

It’s the biggest celebration in the comic book world, and you’re invited! On this special day, comic shops across North America and around the globe open their doors and give away FREE comics to everyone who walks in. Yes, totally free!

FCBD is built on one simple idea: there’s a comic out there for everyone. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just curious, you’ll find something you love among the incredible selection of titles for all ages and tastes.

Your local comic shop is more than a store; it’s the heart of the comic book community. Each shop has its own unique vibe, packed with comics, graphic novels, collectibles, and more. It’s the perfect place to discover new stories, meet fellow fans, and celebrate pop culture together.

New for 2026: We’re inviting local hobby and board game stores to join the celebration too! While comic shops remain the heart of FCBD, this expansion means even more places to discover great stories and connect with your community.

In past years, major publishers like Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite, Image, and many amazing indie creators have delivered a diverse lineup of free comics. From superheroes to hit TV shows, video games, and all-ages adventures, there’s something for everyone. Past favorites have included Pokémon, Doctor Who, SpongeBob, TMNT, Overwatch, and Star Wars. This year promises even more excitement.

But that’s not all! Many shops go all out with costume contests, creator signings, raffles, prizes, photo ops with costumed characters, and other fun activities. Every shop celebrates in its own way, so you never know what surprises await!
