SpazDog Comics (Arizona)

Free Book Comic Day was a blast this year. SpazDog Comics
(www.spazdogcomics.com) held its Free Comic Book Day at the Maricopa County Library District's North Valley Regional Library. We had artists and writers from all over Arizona that came to show off their latest comic books. As part of the day, we offered 3 comic books to anyone who walked in the door. If they showed us their library card, they could choose up to 10 comics. By the end of the day, the library had signed up more than double the number of people that they do on their busiest Saturday. Our Introduction to HeroClix class was well attended with kids walking away with the Wolverine, Batman and Spiderman HeroClix. Now that's a powerful trio. We also held a contest for the school with the Most Students attending Free Comic Book Day. Galvilan Peak Elementary School was the winner of a Hardcover copy of Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics and some other comic related books.

Special Thanks go to: Jay Fotos, Ken and Maggie Wright, Kevin Moyers, Kenny Puckett, Issac Horn, and Rich Portis for signing their own creations. Jim and Kirsten Smith for celebrating their anniversary at our Free Comic Book Day. Thanks to Vin Ragozzine for taking the photos. Kathy DeMumbrum, Scott "Smitty" Smith, Paul Galletley, and "the" Brad Oliver. Big Thanks go to Stephanie Martinez, Teen Librarian, and the Maricopa County Library District for hosting the event and my family for their unending support.
