FCBD: For those who might be new to your comic book, give a quick rundown. What can we expect to see in terms of story and art?
MCc: "Well, the last arc had a Cyborg Grizzly-Squid named RobearTopus! We’re a big fan of weird. And we love complex story lines imbedded with mystery and intrigue. And fighting. And talking animals. Especially ones that curse. Cursing animals might be the thing we love most." "Also, co-creator and artist Larkin Ford is at the top of his game for this series; this guy comes from a classically trained background and also has an intense love for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can understand why you need to see his art to believe it. Plus, our new series colorist Aimee Hanchey is absolutely dominating the pages like a filthy boss. She's an up-and-comer to watch out for."

FCBD: What has been your favorite part of book or character to tackle?Article Image
BMc:
"We have a wise-crackin’ kitten named Mr. Whispers and I really dig writing the dialogue between him and the protagonist, Gabriel Ehmm. Just two best friends, chewing the fat about bad movies, fast food and how they’ll pull off avoiding the universal destruction of their dimension."

FCBD: Tell FCBD fans why they should pick your book first on Free Comic Book Day!
BMc:
"Do you wanna see a flaming cyber-kitten burst through a grown man's chest? Yes, of course you do. Then please pick up this book. You will not be disappointed."

FCBD: What other titles would you associate with your FCBD book? “If a comic reader likes _______ , they should pick up my title"?
BMc:
"Well, we're an out there book, but I think if you like wild ideas like Manhattan Projects or crazy-cool gore from the likes of Frank Quietly, you might find Ehmm Theory your weird-ass cup of tea."

FCBD: What’s your favorite part about working in comics?
BMc:
"Two way tie. 1. The collaboration with the artists & production team. 2. Attending conventions and meeting the fans. As much as I love creating this stuff, without the people who pick up the books, we would be nothing. Listening and talking with folks who dig the title is flat-out inspirational."

FCBD: Many newcomers will pick up comics for the first time on FCBD—what was the first comic you remember reading?
BMc:  "
Probably an issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I had a mail-order subscription to Amazing and GI Joe long before I had a local store to buy from. I begged my mom for subs since the grocery store spinner wasn't always reliable."

FCBD: Where will you be for this year’s FCBD? Do you have any annual FCBD traditions?
BMc:
"There’s a store in NC that’s local to us named Ultimate Comics, and those guys have been supporting us and Ehmm Theory since it was in its inception stages. We haven’t missed a FCBD gig with them in years."

FCBD: Looking to the future of the book, is there anything you can tease about what's upcoming?
BMc:
"Hmmm, without Action Lab’s creative director Dave Dwonch stringing me up? Let’s see. Well, I’ll say this: If you were a fan of the little circus zombies in issue #1, you’re in for a real treat come issue #10."

FCBD: Tell us why everyone should read comic books?
BMc:
"There are people who don’t read comics? Someone get them to a FCBD, stat!"
