FCBD: For those who might be new to your comic book, give a quick rundown. What can we expect to see in terms of story and art?

EP: "Hip Hop Family Tree tells the "origin story" of the culture. It has very little to do with the actual music and it's more about community/world building. The time period of the story is between
1975-1983 so I made sure the artwork looks like it's ripped from that time. It's of a fine vintage, like an amazing wine."

FCBD: What has been your favorite part of book or character to tackle?Article Image
EP: "I cracked the code because I created and tailored the perfect project for me to work on. I'm excited to wake up in the morning and get back in the saddle. Keep up with my twitter if you don't believe me,@edpiskor."

FCBD: Tell FCBD fans why they should pick your book first on Free Comic Book Day!
EP: "Well, my comic is only for people with fantastic taste and a discerning eye for the best quality, so an individual will have to look inwardly before making such a paramount decision."

FCBD: What other titles would you associated with your FCBD book? “If a comic reader likes _______ , they should pick up my title"?
EP: "I would associate it with Afrodisiac by Jim Rugg, Gangsta Rap Posse by Ben Marra, Henry and Glenn by Tom Neely, Fun Home by Alison Bechdel."

FCBD: What’s your favorite part about working in comics?
EP: "Getting to answer thoughtful and stimulating questions in email interviews."

FCBD: Many newcomers will pick up comics for the first time on FCBD—what was the first comic you remember reading?
EP: "There were 2 camps when I was a little dude: the Spider-Man camp and the X-Men camp. I'm a mutie lover. That means X-Men.

FCBD: Where will you be for this year’s FCBD? Do you have any annual FCBD traditions?
EP: My friend and practically neighbor, Tom Scioli, is drawing the IDW FCBD comic Transformers vs. GI Joe, so we're making a sojourn to The Beguiling in Toronto to have our signing. That's one of the best shops on the continent. If I didn't draw this book I would be making a local tour of all the Pittsburgh shops to spend lots of money. First Eides, then Copacetic Comics, then Phantom of the Attic."

FCBD: Looking to the future of the book, is there anything you can tease about what's upcoming?
EP: No need to tease. I put each page online every Tuesday. http://boingboing.net/tag/hip-hop-family-tree

FCBD: Tell us why everyone should read comic books?
EP: FCBD, I think the real question is: why not? Know what I'm sayin' FCBD?
