Hellboy Reboot Announced with Stranger Things Star in Lead Role

Hellboy remains one of the most recognizable comic book heroes in mainstream media thanks to the Hollywood treatment this Dark Horse Comics property by Mike Mignola received from Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman as the main character. The franchise spun out two films Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). A planned squeal called Hellboy III: Dark Worlds was announced as in development in 2009 but ultimately fell through.
Millennium Media (Olympus Has Fallen) is sleighted to produce the reboot--tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen--and are currently courting Larry Gordon (Predator, Die Hard) and Lloyd Levin (Die Hard, Hellboy) to produce. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is already attached to the project. Also in talks to get involved in the film is David Harbour, who played Chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Neither del Toro or Perlman are involved.
Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones), is sleighted to direct, and is currently working with Aron Coleite (Heroes) to develop a new script, building off the one already written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Andrew Crosby (Eureka), and Christopher Golden, who has written novels for Hellboy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
